Brief Therapy for First Time Queers
You finally found your first queer love — and instead of feeling free, you feel anxious, ashamed, or like you’re fumbling through love.
I help first-time queers make sense of their feelings, calm the panic, and feel worthy of the intimacy they’ve always wanted so they do not have to love in shame & silence again.

You’ve finally come out — maybe after years of silence — and you’re dating for the first time as a queer person. But instead of just joy and freedom, you’re also carrying an unsettling mix of shame, anxiety, and guilt.
You grew up in a culturally or religiously conservative home where queerness simply didn’t exist — or if it did, it was shamed, denied, or punished. You were expected to marry someone of the opposite gender, raise cis-hetero kids, and follow the script that generations before you followed without question.
You may have been told — directly or indirectly — that how you feel is wrong, sinful, or unnatural.
Now you’re out, but no one gave you the tools to unlearn a lifetime of internalized homophobia. You’re trying to show up fully in your first queer relationship, but every moment of intimacy brings up questions you can’t always answer:
What will my family think if they see us holding hands?
Does this make me less worthy in the eyes of God?
Why does something that feels right still make me feel wrong?
You’re riding waves of joy, excitement, fear, and shame — sometimes all in the same hour — and it’s starting to affect your relationship.
I help first-time queer people unlearn internalized shame, anxiety, and heterosexist conditioning so they can experience emotionally fulfilling, grounded, and intimate queer relationships — without shame and guilt.

Hi, I’m Dr. Wonbin Jung, LMFT (she/her).
I’m a queer Asian therapist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 10 years of experience supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and couples—especially those who are just beginning their queer journey.
If you’re dating for the first time as a queer person, it can feel like your whole world is shifting. Maybe you’ve recently come out. Maybe you’re navigating your first queer relationship. Maybe you’re still carrying the weight of internalized shame, religious guilt, or the fear of disappointing your family. You want this to feel joyful, but instead you’re walking on eggshells—with yourself, your partner, your faith, your past.
I help first-time queer individuals and couples untangle those emotional knots—so that love, intimacy, and connection don’t feel so loaded with anxiety or fear. My approach is trauma-informed and rooted in narrative therapy and parts work, because every feeling has a history, and every part of you deserves to be heard with compassion.
Whether you're scared to hold hands in public or unsure how to talk about boundaries and desire, I offer a space where you won’t have to explain or justify your queerness. A space where we slow down, listen deeply, and begin rewriting the stories that have kept you small.
This work is deeply personal to me—and if you’ve made it this far, maybe it’s personal to you too. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. Let’s begin.
